Luis Salvatella (Girona, 1967) defended his Ph D thesis entitled "Theoretical-Experimental Study on the Solvent Effects on Asymmetric Diels–Alder Reactions" in 1994. After two years as an Assistant Professor in the Zaragoza University, he achieved a two-year post-doctoral stage at the Laboratoire de Chimie Théorique in Nancy (France). Back to the Zaragoza University, he obtained a Lecturer position in 2002.

His scientific career has been mainly devoted to mechanistic studies on the role of solvents and catalysts in a number of reactions (Diels–Alder, cyclopropanation, C–H insertion, Kharasch–Sosnovsky, Meinwald rearrangement,...). In the last years, his attention focus has been extended to Green Chemistry and Chemistry Teaching. In particular, he has been the coordinator of the Master's course on Sustainable Chemistry of the Zaragoza University (2007–2014).
