Ricardo Castarlenas graduated in chemistry (1996) and obtained the Ph.D. (2001) at the University of Zaragoza (UZ, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Miguel A. Esteruelas. After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Rennes (France) in the research group of Prof. Dixneuf (2001-2004), he returned to the University of Zaragoza-CSIC in 2004 where he gained a “Ramon y Cajal” contract in 2006. Between 2012-2014 he worked as ARAID fellow in the ISQCH where he was promoted to CSIC Scientific Researcher in 2016. In 2008 he was awarded the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry prize for young researchers and later in 2011 the “Real Academia de Ciencias de Zaragoza” distinction. His research interests include the design of organometallic catalysts for organic transformations in a selective manner, particularly focused on mechanistic issues.
