Applications are invited for a 36 month postdoctoral position (closing date for applying: 13th April 2020) to work in the group of Professor Mike Whittlesey in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bath, UK on the development of transition metal-main group metal (TM-M') heterobimetallic complexes for stoichiometric and catalytic small molecule activation (see: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2016, 138, 11081; Chem. Eur. J. 2018, 24, 1732). Experimental work in Bath will run in parallel with computational studies with Professor Stuart Macgregor at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.
You should have a PhD in synthetic organometallic/transition metal/main-group metal chemistry, and have experience of manipulating air-sensitive complexes. A sound knowledge of reaction mechanisms, NMR techniques and X-ray crystallography is also highly desirable.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Mike Whittlesey (m.k.whittlesey@bath.ac.uk), however, please ensure that your application is submitted via the following job reference on the University of Bath website: https://www.bath.ac.uk/jobs/CC7549
